With an initial estimated launch of 2025, the Lexus LF-Z Electrified may actually be making an appearance much sooner. It's estimated that this concept car may enter into production as early as late summer or early fall 2022. Lexus plans to introduce 10 new plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles by 2025, with the LF-Z being one of them. While little is known about this fascinating vehicle, drivers everywhere are already talking about it. Here are the top features that have been leaked on the Lexus LF-Z Electrified.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
At this point, there's no mention of any trim levels for the Lexus LF-Z. The prototype has been called one of the best-looking prototype options in recent years. The LF-Z appears to be as roomy as a crossover SUV with the sleek profile of a hatchback. This futuristic vehicle features a thin horizontal lighting strip that Lexus first introduced on the UX crossover. There's a blue stripe that bisects the electrochromic panoramic glass roof. The roof also features the blackout floating style and the upturned kink on the rear doors.
The LF-Z will also feature pop-out door handles, oversized deep-dish wheels, side mirror cameras, and badges illuminated on all four corners of the vehicle. Black translucent panels lay over the spindle grille for a stunning appearance. In the back, you'll find a full-width taillight with Lexus spelled out across it.
Engine (Power)
A 90-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powered the Lexus LF-Z concept prototype and it's assumed to be the power source for this electrified vehicle. Lexus aims to provide a range of 373 miles, which is very optimistic. Direct4 allows two motors to vary the delivery of power to all four wheels based on need. The LF-Z will also use drive-by-wire technology, allowing the driver to steer the vehicle more easily.
Performance
Lexus knows that drivers everywhere love performance-enhancing features, so the LF-Z Electrified is sure to have a plethora to that end. The prototype featured self-driving sensors, labeled LTM for Lexus Teammate, a next-generation Level 3+ system that allows cars and people to communicate.
Interior
While the prototype's interior appeared to be minimalist, it also gave off the feel of a jet fighter cockpit. The front seat is an aggressive one-piece seat, while the back seat is deeply scalloped. The LF-Z Electrified is driven via a yoke-style steering wheel to amplify that jet fighter cockpit feel. You'll notice accent lighting on the floor along with the play/stop icons on the pedals. You can expect to find a next-generation infotainment system with a touch screen in the triple-screen layout.
Safety Features
Lexus has always placed a priority on safety, and the LF-Z will be no exception. You can expect to find the latest and greatest in safety and driver-assistance features on this new electric-powered vehicle. Advanced air bag systems are standard in all Lexus vehicles to help protect you and your passengers in the event of an accident.
